Gabungan AQRS wins RM304mil sub-contract


KUALA LUMPUR: Gabungan AQRS Bhd, an integrated engineering and construction company has clinched a RM303.5mil sub-contract from Syarikat Muhibah Perniagaan dan Pembinaan Sdn Bhd (SMPP) in conjunction with the Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit (KVMRT) entry point project.

The scope of the job to be undertaken by Gabungan AQRS’ subsidiary Gabungan Strategik Sdn Bhd entails the construction and completion of viaduct guideway and other associated works onto the KVMRT line along the route from Sg. Buloh to Kota Damansara.

The sub-contract is part of package V1 of the KVMRT project and SMPP is the work package contractor for package V1 of KVMRT.

“We are undoubtedly pleased to be entrusted to play a pivotal role in one of the nation’s most significant infrastructure projects.

“This project will be another milestone achievement for our group, as it speaks as much of our past experience as it does our capabilities in undertaking a crucial task such as this.

“While we are heartened by the awarding of this project, we remain firmly focused on assisting the country to take that progressive leap in its public infrastructure initiatives,” said chief executive officer Alvin Ng Chun Kooi in statement yesterday.

The group anticipated to commence works on the KVMRT project immediately, with its targeted completion by early 2016.

The project is expected to contribute positively to the group’s earnings from the financial year ending Dec 31, 2012 onwards.

Gabungan AQRS past projects included the RM110.0mil Seremban-Senawang federal road, the RM150mil Institut Kemahiran Belia in Kuala Langat, and 43 school blocks in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor totalling RM150mil.

Gabungan AQRS’ on-going construction works include the RM104.6mil Puchong Perdana interchange and the RM277.2mil Lebuhraya Damansara-Puchong extension.

Ng added that his new project effectively increases our construction order book to a record high of RM1.2 billion, which will keep us busy until 2016.

“That said, we will continue to leverage on our proven expertise and experience to tender for key infrastructure projects in the domestic arena. Given that there is much more work to be done in Malaysia – particularly in enhancing the accessibility and efficacy of the current transport infrastructure – we hope to be given a chance to contribute positively in this aspect of nation-building,” said Ng.
