Bank Negara is top bond issuer in 2009
PETALING JAYA: Bank Negara was the top issuer of bonds for the fourth quarter ended Dec 31 with a market share of 31% and amount issued of RM24.6bil.
According to the Bond Pricing Agency Malaysia League Tables, the central bank was also the top issuer last year with 40.1% market share with RM143.9bil in amount issued. In 2008, it was also ranked top with 55.9% market share and RM218.6bil in amount issued.
The Malaysian government and BNM Sukuk Bhd were ranked second and third in the list of top issuance by amount issued last year.
For the amount issued (conventional) category that excluded the Government and Bank Negara, Cagamas Bhd took the top position with 12.3% market share and RM1.9bil in amount issued for the fourth quarter.
It was also the top for the whole year with 14.2% market share and RM7.1bil in the amount issued.
For the Islamic bond category, the Government was the top issuer last year with 26.2% market share and RM30.5bil in the amount issued.
