Renault Trucks to make its presence felt in Malaysia
By SHARON LING
KUCHING: Renault Trucks Malaysia plans to expand its presence in the country following its trucks’ launch into Volvo Malaysia Sdn Bhd’s sales and service network.
Managing director Eric Leblanc said the company aimed to supply heavy duty trucks for logging, mining and construction activities as well as specialised trucks for garbage collection, fire and rescue, and haulage services.
“These are our niche areas. We already have about 1,000 trucks in Malaysia and we intend to expand our presence here,” he said after the launch ceremony at Volvo Malaysia here yesterday.
In particular, he said Renault was exploring the potential of its Kerax off-road trucks for logging and other activities in Sarawak and Sabah.
“Besides logging, there are other activities like dam building and the construction of an oil and gas pipeline in Sarawak and Sabah, so we see good potential for our trucks in these two states,” Leblanc said.
He added that there were currently over 300 Renault trucks in Sarawak, of which about 80% were used for logging activities.
On Renault Trucks’ launch into the Volvo network, Leblanc said this would provide better sales and technical services as well as a wider range of trucks to customers.
