PJ Blue Archipelago to operate RM150mil shrimp farm
PETALING JAYA: PJ Blue Archipelago Bhd, a local shrimp aquaculture company, will operate a RM150mil processing farm in Setiu, Terengganu soon.
Chief executive officer Dr Shahridan Faiez said the company, which operates a shrimp farm in Kerpan, Kedah, would emerge a direct seller of the seafood once the 1,000ha farm commenced operations.
He said the new farm was expected to contribute RM100mil in revenue to the company’s bottomline by June next year. The Kerpan farm currently sells fresh shrimps to third party processors.
“It harvests about 1,500 tonnes of premium black tiger shrimps annually,” he told reporters after a seminar on the outlook for the US shrimp and seafood market here yesterday. — Bernama
