PM to lead delegation to Apec summit
KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak will lead the Malaysian delegation to the 17th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) economic leader’s meeting (AELM) in Singapore on Nov 14 and 15.
The annual summit, themed “Sustaining Growth, Connecting the Region“, to be attended by Heads of State and Government from the 21 member economies, will be preceded by the 21st Apec Ministerial Meeting (AMM) on Nov 11 and 12 and Apec Concluding senior officials meeting on Nov 8 and 9.
The Foreign Ministry said that Najib, who is also Finance Minister, would speak on wide-ranging issues, covering the economic crisis, multilateral trading system, regional economic integration, economic and technical cooperation, human security and strengthening APEC.
The Prime Minister has also been invited to participate in the APEC CEO summit and will speak on the subject “Is the Worst of the Global Crisis Over?“ on Nov 13.
Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman will also attend the session, it said in a statement. —Bernama
