ACI Young Executive of the Year award goes to Australian
By LEE KIAN SEONG
KUALA LUMPUR: This year’s Airports Council International (ACI) Asia Pacific Young Executive of the Year Award has gone to Frances Cream of the Gold Coast Airport in Australia.
Honorable mentions were given to Kazuhiro Shida from Kansai International Airport Co Ltd and Badriyah Noordin from Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB).
The ACI Asia Pacific Young Executive of the Year Award is a new initiative introduced this year aimed at providing a unique opportunity for members of ACI Asia Pacific to discover and showcase their talented young executives.
Another objective of the award is to encourage and promote the contribution of innovative ideas and solutions in the aviation industry.
ACI is the only worldwide association of airports and is a non-profit organisation whose purpose is to represent the interests of airports and to promote professional excellence in airport management and operations.
ACI Asia Pacific, one of the five ACI regions, is based in Hong Kong and represents the interest of over 460 airports in the region.
ACI Asia Pacific regional director Maggie Kwok said the association had received 13 entries from its airport members for this year’s awards.
“I’m very proud of these executives who have demonstrated their ability to generate innovative ideas to improve airport management,” she said at the gala dinner of the 19th ACI World & Asia Pacific Conference and Exhibition, which was hosted by MAHB.
Minister of Transport Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat graced the event.
The entries were reviewed by a panel of judges, chaired by MAHB managing director and chief executive officer Tan Sri Bashir Ahmad.
Bashir said Cream gave an impressive analysis of current financial crisis in her paper.
“Her paper also provides valuable comments and views on how the airport industry should react to the challenges,” he said.
Cream has been working at the Gold Coast Airport for over two years as part of the business development and marketing team.
