China planning agency OKs Shanghai Disney project
SHANGHAI (AP): China's economic planning agency says it has approved a proposal to build a Disney theme park in Shanghai.
The National Development and Reform Commission said the park would be built as planned in Shanghai's eastern Pudong district. It gave no other details about the project.
Disney has said the initial phase of the project would include a Magic Kingdom-style park tailored to the Shanghai region - mainland China's commercial and financial hub.
The park will be a showcase project for Shanghai, which will be hosting the World Expo beginning next May.
