JOHOR BARU: MSC Cyberport Sdn Bhd is currently conducting a feasibility study to extend the e-Local Authority system (e-PBT) to local authorities in China and Indonesia.

Chief executive officer Ganesh Kumar Bangah said the study would take six more months to finish, following which the company would implement the system in the two countries.

He said China and Indonesia had shown interest in adopting the modules and applications that the company was developing for 16 local authorities in Johor.

“There is a big market for us out there; in China alone there are 1,000 local authorities but offhand, I don’t have the figure for Indonesia,’’ Ganesh said at an agreement signing ceremony between the Johor government, 15 local authorities in Johor and MSC Cyberport witnessed by Mentri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman.

Under the agreement, the company would develop the e-system, comprising 18 modules, for 15 local authorities.

Among the modules are employee portal, collection module, e-assessment, e-license, e-rental, e-complaint, e-payment and project database tracking.

Ganesh said it would invest RM40mil to develop the E-PBT and would collect payment over a 10-year period to recoup its investment while the state government would allocate RM1mil yearly for the local authorities for 10 years.

“We will also extend the E-PBT system to Pahang, Perak and Sarawak which have shown interest in the system for their local authorities,’’ he said.

MSC Cyberport is a public-private partnership spearheaded by the Johor government to create a global information and communications technology business hub within Iskandar Malaysia.
