Star, ChartNexus team up to give listed companies a boost
PETALING JAYA: Public listed companies (PLCs) must now have their own websites with updated company information and announcements, under a recently announced Bursa Malaysia requirement.
Star Publications (M) Bhd and financial solutions provider ChartNexus Sdn Bhd have teamed up to help PLCs address the new requirement and find an audience for their investor relations communications.
The collaboration is based upon ChartNexus’ Online Investor Relations platform, a solution for companies that need to build a corporate website or have an investor relations webpage; and on Star Publications’ reach in the online media space.
ChartNexus marketing director Justin Tan estimates that there are 200 PLCs that still do not have their own website.
According to Tan, the Online Investor Relations platform offers a two-fold method of getting investor relations (IR) information from the companies to the investors.
ChartNexus helps clients build an IR webpage or even a whole new corporate website that incorporates their IR pages.
The IR website will be hosted by ChartNexus, while web traffic will be drawn there by strategically placed links on the Business section of The Star Online at http://biz.thestar.com.my.
Tan said that after preparing a basic design of a company’s IR website “we will then customise content on the IR site according to what the company wants – financial reports, financial statements, news updates, latest announcements and stock information.”
After the site is built, the next step is to drive traffic there.
“One reason companies were not really keen on investor relations websites (before the Bursa ruling) is that they could put up a webpage, but there would not be a lot of traffic,” Tan said.
Another distribution channel for PLCs’ IR information will be three investment banks – CIMB, RHB and ECM Libra – which are powered by ChartNexus’ ShareInsight information tools.
