EON Bank promotes Lor to group CEO
PETALING JAYA: EON Bank group has promoted head of consumer banking Michael Lor to group chief executive officer.
The bank said in a statement yesterday the appointment was made after an extensive search by an executive search firm, which included international and internal potential candidates.
Lor joined EON Bank in February last year as head of group consumer banking. Prior to that, he was worldwide director of banking solutions with Hewlett-Packard Asia-Pacific’s financial service industry segment.
With more than 20 years of banking experience, Lor had previously served as executive vice-president and head of consumer banking at RHB Bank Malaysia, as well as managing director at DBS Bank.
His tenure at DBS saw him holding various senior management capacities in Singapore and Thailand.
Lor currently serves as a director of Malaysian Electronic Payment System (1997) Sdn Bhd.
EON Capital Bhd chairman Tan Sri Syed Anwar Jamalullail said in the statement: “We are certainly very pleased that the best candidate for the job has been selected after such a thorough process.
“We are especially delighted to note that it is one of our own that has been determined to be the very best, even when compared with external and international potential candidates.’’
