Wah Seong secures RM611.3mil Norwegian pipe-coating job


KUALA LUMPUR: Wah Seong Corporation Bhd's pipe coating business unit has secured a US$198mil (RM611.3mil) for a project in the Norwegian Sea.

It said on Friday the contract was for the coating work in the Polarled development project, including anti-corrosion coating, internal flow coating and concrete weight coating.

"The contract involves coating of approximately 520km of pipes. Activity is expected to commence in the third quarter of 2013 and be completed in 2015.

"The contract is for provision of pipe coating services which is the core business of the Wah Seong Corp Group and the risks are the normal operational risks associated with provision of pipe coating services," it said.

Wah Seong aid the Polarled development project was a Statoil project to transport gas from the Aasta Hansteen field in the Norwegian Sea to the onshore processing plant in Nyhamna, Norway.
