Malaysia bags nine awards at Spikes Asia
SINGAPORE: Malaysia netted nine awards at this year’s Spikes Asia Awards, including two gold awards.
McCann Erickson led the Malaysian charge, bagging the two gold Spikes here on Tuesday evening under the Radio category for BFM Media’s breast cancer awareness campaign.
Y&R Malaysia, meanwhile, scored a silver and a bronze under the Outdoor category for its Penguin Books campaign.
The agency also took home three bronze awards for the Penguin Books work under the Design category.
Other agencies that did Malaysia proud included Leo Burnett, which won a bronze for Samsung Electronics under the inaugural Brand Content & Entertainment category; and JWT, which also clinched a bronze for automotive company Ford in the Promo and Activation category.
Last year, Malaysia netted five silver and five bronze awards.
The Spikes Asia Festival of Creativity, which was held from Sept 16 to 18, provided the region’s growing creative communications industry with a platform to network and exchange ideas. It was attended by 1,800 delegates from 27 countries.
BBDO was presented with the Network of the Year trophy, with DDB coming second and Leo Burnett third.
The Star is the official and exclusive representative for Malaysia for this regional advertising festival.
