AirAsia X to lease 6 Airbus under 10-year term (Update)

KUALA LUMPUR: AirAsia X will lease six Airbus A330-300 from International Lease Finance Corp (ILFC) for US$500mil.
It had signed a letter of intent on Thursday with ILFC for the lease which will be for 10 years.
The aircraft are the same model as those that AirAsia X purchased directly from Airbus, with Rolls Royce Trent 700 engines and a maximum take-off weight of 233 tonnes.
The six aircraft are scheduled for delivery between 2013 and 2014.
On the proposed listing of AirAsia X, Tan Sri Tony Fernandes, who is director of AirAsia X, he said it was progressing.
Fernandes, who is group CEO of AirAsia, also said the low-cost carrier was not eyeing any acquisitions at the moment after Batavia Air.
