Malaysia’s June exports up 5.4% to RM60.97b


KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's exports increased by 5.4% to RM60.97bil in June from a year ago, the Statistics Department said.

It said on Wednesday that imports increased by 3.6% to RM51.78bil on-year.

“Malaysia's total trade in June 2012 increased by 4.6% to reach a value of RM112.75bil compared with June 2011,” it said, adding it was boosted by growth in trade of 16.9% with China and 13.5% with Japan.

The department said manufactured goods exports in June 2012 increased by 5.8% or RM2.28bil from a year ago to RM41.55bil. Exports of mining goods, rose by 18.8% or RM1.88bil to RM11.9bil while agricultural goods, contracted 14.3% or RM1.17bil to RM7bil.

“Electrical and electronic (E&E) products, the largest export sub-sector with a share of 33.6%, registered an increase of 2.1% or RM419.5mil compared with June 2011,” it said.
