VADS sees growth at near industry average

KUALA LUMPUR: VADS Bhd expects its business to have double-digit growth this year.

The business process outsourcing (BPO) and information communication technology (ICT) provider aims to match the industry's growth rate, which is between 13% and 15%.

Chief executive officer Ahmad Azhar Yahya said: “We aim to be not far from the industry's average.”

He added that although both BPO and ICT segments contributed equally to revenue, the BPO segment grew at a faster rate because it was relatively smaller that the ICT segment.

VADS plans to drive growth through its ICT services, via its managed telepresence service and cloud computing.

The managed telepresence service enables high-definition video conferencing with multiple parties from various places.

Ahmad Azhar said the company was focusing on small and medium enterprises to grow its cloud computing services.

“We foresee cloud computing to be very big in this market, as it helps them reduce operating cost,” he said.

VADS is collaborating with its parent company Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) SME to launch its cloud computing. In 2011, VADS recorded revenue of US$282mil (RM875mil).
