INDEPENDENT communications and digital media solutions specialist Carat Malaysia has appointed Bala Pomaleh as chief executive officer effective June 15.

Bala was responsible for solidifying Posterscope's position as the market leader in the out-of-home advertising industry. He also oversaw the Singapore market.

“We are fortunate to have someone of Bala's calibre and experience to lead Carat,” says Aegis Media Group executive chairman Margaret Lim.

“Bala is a visionary with a proven track record of execution. He has the right operational and communication skills, and leadership abilities to bring Carat to the next level.”

Tan, who has been with Carat for nine years, now heads Jumptank, a group of people who operates at the point of convergence and acts as a catalyst for innovation for all of Aegis's clients. Jumptank, which entered Malaysia last month, is also available in the US and Australian markets.

Lim says that under Tan's leadership, Carat underwent an impressive turnaround and its competitiveness improved significantly.
