Gunung teams up with Saudi's Al-Habib for Riyadh bus transit system
KUALA LUMPUR: Gunung Capital Bhd is teaming up with Saudi Arabia's Mohammad Abdulaziz Al-Habib & Sons Holding Company to tender for the Riyadh bus transit system.
Gunung said on Thursday both parties had inked an MoU to tender for the Arriyadh comprehensive bus transit system with a total length of 600km of bus lines in the city of Riyadh.
The project involves the procurement, operation and maintenance of seven bus rapid transit (BRT) lines with total line network length of 120km; three circular lines with a total length of 100km and 18 community lines with a total line network length of 405km.
"The overall number of vehicles for the operation of the seven BRT lines, the three circular lines and the 18 community lines is estimated to be around 650-700 vehicles," it said.
Gunung said the project would start in 2014, and fully phased in over the period to year 2016.
The successful bidder or bidders would be contracted for five years with an option to extend for a further five years.
