GE Q2 earnings, revenue up 2.5%
BOSTON: General Electric Co reported a 2.5% rise in quarterly profit from continuing operations, just beating estimates, as solid demand in the United States for equipment used in energy production offset the effects of a weakening European economy.
The largest US conglomerate said second-quarter net earnings fell 15.8% to US$3.11bil, from US$3.69bil a year earlier. Revenue rose 2.5% to US$36.5bil from US$35.62bil. – Reuters
