MISC advances to almost 4-wk high of RM4.15


KUALA LUMPUR: Shares of MISC Bhd advanced to RM4.15 on Thursday, the highest since May 29, on rising optimism it would register better quarters ahead and return to the black.

At 3.46pm, MISC was up 27 sen to RM4.15. There were 10.38 million shares done.

The FBM KLCI slipped 3.12 points to 1,601.27. Turnover was 1.22 billion shares valued at RM997.03mil. There were 297 gainers, 428 losers and 304 counters unchanged.

MISC chairman Datuk George Ratilal said on Wednesday the company had sold 10 of its container ships, while another six were in the sale negotiation process.

On the liner business, he was quoted saying the decision to exit it as "sound" as it expected the next few quarters to be "better than before".
