Malaysia's FDI for 2011 up 12.3%


PETALING JAYA: The total foreign direct investment (FDI) inflow into Malaysia in 2011 has increased 12.3% to RM32.9bil as compared with RM29.3bil in 2010.

International Trade and Industry minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed said on Tuesday that the manufacturing sector accounted for the largest share of FDI inflows, accounting for 50.1% of total FDI inflows.

"This was followed by the services sector (27.3%), mining and quarrying (22.2%) and agriculture, forestry and fishing (0.4%),"he said at the Malaysian Investment Development Authority media conference.
