FBM KLCI closes higher
KUALA LUMPUR: The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) closed higher today by 1.16 points or 0.07% to 1,562.82.
There were 364 gainers, 517 losers and 321 counters traded unchanged.
Turnover was at 2.661 billion shares valued at RM2.1bil.
According to HwangDBS predicted the benchmark FBM KLCI could consolidate today following an increase of 40.8-point or 2.7% in the last fortnight but still, the local bourse would likely show resilience as investors who had missed out on the earlier market run-up might be waiting to buy on weakness.
The top three gainers were BAT that gained RM1.20 to RM51.50, KLK added 50 sen to RM25.98 and UTDPLT increased 50 sen to RM22.50.
For the heavyweights, CIMB lost 5 sen to RM7.16, Genting added 20 sen to RM10.50 and DiGi down 3 sen to RM4.10.
For the closing of other regional markets, Nikkei 225 closed 52.01 points higher to 8,999.18, the Hang Seng Index swelled by 103.54 points 20,887.40, Shanghai Composite Index was down 0.13 points to 2,351.85, Kospi Index climbed 12.03 points to 2005.74 and Straits Times Index added 15.98 points to 2,975.98.
