MAS expects ticket sales revenue to rise 10%-15%
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Airlines (MAS) expects revenue from ticket sales to grow between 10% and 15% in 2013, supported by new routes and increased flight frequencies.
MAS regional senior vice-president, Malaysia/Asean Muzammil Mohamad said for 2012, MAS expected growth of between 8% and 10%.
Saying that the airline expected 2013 to be a tough but positive year, he said the airline would continue to work closely with travel partners, boost its online sales and provide more exciting offers to customers.
Muzammil said MAS was also very excited about joining the "oneworld" airline alliance on Feb 1.
"This alliance membership will enable our passengers to enjoy a truly global network of over 800 destinations, worldwide, in more than 150 countries by partnering with some of the best and biggest airlines in the world," he told reporters after presenting prizes to winners of several contests held throughout the year.
In terms of aircraft, Muzammil said MAS now had more capacity with the change from Boeing 737-400 to 737-800.
"And, if you look at one of our top selling routes, the KL-London sector, we have replaced with A380. That alone has about 1,000 seats a day. All these help (to increase ticket sales)," he said. - Bernama
