PETALING JAYA: Business readers have much to gain from the latest phase of The Star Bundle subscription which, in partnership with telco heavyweight DiGi, offers a three-month free trial period of the new DiGi Tablet Plan for new and existing subscribers.

The Star Bundle, which includes the newspaper, ePaper and eflavours, offers the convenience of daily downloads by 7am so that city-dwellers can leave for office in time yet read the papers before delving into work.

Once the daily issues have been downloaded, readers who need business updates on-the-go can access The Star newspaper any time or any place.

Readers can also retrieve their news through an audio reader, allowing them to multitask while keeping themselves abreast of the day's news.

With The Star Bundle, readers are also able to share news stories via email, Facebook and Twitter to keep their social circle in touch.

DiGi chief marketing officer Albern Murty said that having 3G connection would allow news consumption to be more interactive.

“With Internet connection on the go, you would be able to download more news always,” he said during a meeting with The Star to officiate the partnership.

“Internet connectivity is very important as more people are on the online space now. While there are still customers who fear moving there, we need to remove that worry,” Murty said.

He believed that can be achieved as more people understand the value of immediate access to the ePaper. “The awareness will benefit both Star Publications (M) Bhd and DiGi.”

Star Publications group managing director and chief executive Ho Kay Tat said the bundle subscription was great value for money.

“For RM100 less a year, they get the printed copy delivered to them and also enjoy access to the digital edition via two mobile devices and their desktop,” he said, “In short, they get four copies for RM100 less than what they pay a year to have just the printed copy delivered to them. One subscription can be shared with the entire family.”

Ho added that the subscription would be convenient for mobile and busy executives.

“As more and more of our readers now own a smartphone or a tablet, or both, the bundle subscription allows them to access and read the newspaper on the go without having to carry the printed copy with them.”

3G-enabled tablet users who sign up for The Star Bundle in the next three months will be eligible for the three-month free DiGi Tablet 1GB Plan, after which they can continue the data plan service for as low as RM29 per month.

Existing bundle subscribers are entitled to redeem this offer.
