KLCI ends lower on Wednesday


The FBM KLCI ended higher on Wednesday, closing up 2.57 points to 1,580.67 at 5.30pm.

Cafe chain operator and coffee beverage manufacturer OldTown Bhd, which made its debut on Bursa Malaysia today, was the most actively traded stock of the day, rising 7 sen to RM1.32 with 51.7 million shares changing hands.

Regional bourses were mostly higher. Tokyo's Nikkei 225 was up 0.37% to 9,963.14 and Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index rose 1.22% to 21,926.88.

Shanghai's A index gained 1.48% to 2,795.48 while Taiwan's Taiex Index slipped 0.03% to 8,488.06.

Seoul's Kospi Index gained 0.94% to 2,129.64 and Singapore's Straits Times Index was up 0.36% to 3,088.42.

Nymex crude oil rose 23 cents to US$97.66 per barrel. Spot gold rose US$3.50 to US$1,571.20 per ounce. The ringgit was quoted at 3.022 to the US dollar.
