OSK to expand investment banking ops
KUALA LUMPUR: OSK Holdings Bhd is looking to expand its investment banking operations in the Asean region this year.
Executive chairman Datuk Nik Mohamed Din Nik Yusoff said the company had last year established operations in Cambodia, where it opened four branches.
“Now, we are looking at one or two more countries to expand our investment banking wing. Hopefully, we can finalise this by the end of the year,” he added.
Nik Mohamed said investment banking opportunites were everywhere but how an institution performed depended on the confidence of its clients.
“This is where we stand as one of the best investment bankers in the country and region,” he said after the company EGM yesterday.
Nik Mohamed also said OSK was keen on increasing the contribution of its investment banking segment to the group’s annual profit.
“Currently, this segment contributes 30% annually. We are looking to increase it in the future,” he said.
On the main revenue generator, the stockbroking sector, Nik Mohamed said OSK would this year try to maintain its No. 1 status achieved in terms of volume in 2009. — Bernama
