Loke named new AXA Affin CEO

Appointment of former Great Eastern official pending Bank Negara’s approval
PETALING JAYA: AXA Affin Life Insurance Bhd has found a new chief executive officer (CEO) after a search lasting more than five months.
Loke Kah Meng, a former executive vice-president and chief marketing officer with Great Eastern Life Assurance (M) Bhd, is now the company’s new CEO pending approval from Bank Negara.
He took over the reins from Vincent Kwo, who left the company a few months ago, contradicting market talk that AXA Affin chief marketing officer Nicholas Kua Choo Ming would assume Kwo’s position.
It is learnt that Loke had been with AXA Affin for a month and his old position in Great Eastern has not been filled.
A source told StarBiz that Great Eastern would most likely hire a person from another company rather than promote from within.
Incorporated in February 2006, AXA Affin Life is a 51:49 joint venture between Affin Holdings Bhd and AXA Asia Pacific Holdings Ltd.
The AXA Group, headquartered in Paris, is one of the world’s largest financial protection and wealth management companies.
AXA Affin Life recently said it planned to expand its agency force to 1,200 by year-end from about 400 currently.
AXA Affin Life has branches in Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Sibu, Petaling Jaya, Penang and Johor Baru.
