Petronas Dagangan confident Primax 95 will sell well
By HONG BOON HOW
SEPANG: Petronas Dagangan Bhd is confident its new Primax 95 petrol, priced at RM1.75 per litre and to be made available at 900 Petronas stations nationwide from Sept 1, will be well received.
Primax 95, Petronas’ new petrol with a Research Octane Number (RON) of 95, replaces the older RON 92 fuel which will be phased out from the local market the same day.
Petronas Dagangan senior general manager (retail business division) Mohd Fadzlan Abdul Samad said Primax 95 accounted for 80% of petrol sold at the company’s stations which had been selling the Primax 95 ahead of the official launch next month.
“This ratio clearly indicates that local motorists do not have any problems and have accepted the new Primax 95 as the fuel of their choice,” he said at a media test drive and briefing on the Primax 95 at the Sepang International Karting Circuit here on Thursday.
The vehicles used for the test, which covered a 350km distance from Shah Alam to Malacca and back, were the Honda Civic 1.8, Honda City 1.5, Naza 206 Bestari, Kia Optima, Kia Sportage, BMW 320i, BMW 525i, Peugeot 407 and Proton Exora.
So far, Petronas Dagangan has five stations that are already selling Primax 95 – two in Putrajaya and one each in Shah Alam’s Section 13, Kepong’s Middle Ring Road 2 and Cheras.
Primax 95 comes with a new Sinar G-07 additive that contains friction modifier and combustion improver to protect engine components and enhance overall engine efficiency, according to Fadzlan.
Primax 95 meets the Euro 2M emission standards and has been formulated with a reduced sulphur content of 500 parts per million, in line with the national oil corporation’s aim for a cleaner environment, he said.
Primax 95 is suitable for all national car makes, and most Japanese, European, Korean and American models.
