4As to drop ‘Best of Show’ award
KUALA LUMPUR: The Kancil Awards, the annual creative awards show organised by the Association of Accredited Advertising Agents Malaysia (4As), will drop the overall “Best of Show” Golden Kancil this year. Instead, 10 category Golden Kancils will be awarded.
This major change was in line with the Kancil Awards committee’s vision of streamlining and aligning the Kancils, which is organised by the 4As, with prestigious international awards like Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival where the best campaigns in each category were recognised, the 4As said in a statement.
“It’s the view of the leading creatives that each discipline is unique and should be awarded individually,” said Kancil Awards 2009 jury chairman SP Lee.
“This year we will also assemble what is probably the largest panel of local jurors (at the Kancils) as we do have a large enough pool of good talent.”
Kancil Awards 2009 committee chairman Ng Chiew Ping said the Kancil Awards had been a vital part of the local industry for over 30 years and the 4As wanted to continue to improve the annual event.
The deadline for entries is Sept 4. Only work published, circulated, shown or aired in Malaysia or in international media from Oct 11, 2008, to Sept 4, 2009, are eligible.
The 4As has a membership of over 140 organisations involved in brand strategy and communications.
