Lenovo plans to boost desktop and laptop sales
KUALA LUMPUR: Lenovo Technology Sdn Bhd will continue to grow its desktop, laptop and server segments through its aggressive branch expansion plan and proactive market strategy.
Country general manager for commercial business Khoo Hung Chuan said the desktop and laptop segments were the highest revenue contributor for the company and it was optimistic on the sales going forward as the market sentiment was picking up.
“The market is picking up due to the improvement in consumer spending power and the intention to upgrade to the latest personal computer model also helps in boosting sales,” he told a press conference after the launch of Lenovo’s ThinkPad T400s laptop yesterday.
He said the company was on track to have 46 outlets by March and was looking for potential locations which might include small towns and Sabah and Sarawak.

He added that the company had 14 outlets in Malaysia currently.
“It is important to reach out to customers by expanding our channels,” he said.
He said the company was not the top player in the consumer segment but its share was growing.
For its corporate customers segment, Khoo said the segment was growing and the company would take an proactive role in approaching the corporate customers like market its products to its customers individually.
The ThinkPad T400s laptop provides business users a thin and light yet powerful feature-packed personal computer.
“We have created products like this to bring thin and light computing to mainstream corporate users,” Khoo said.
He added that the company applied thoughtful design in balancing the need for greater portability with strong performance and usability.
He said the company was still positive on the demand for these premium products due to its advance features and reliability.
