Season Components eyes high-end electronic components market
By DAVID TAN
BUTTERWORTH: Season Components Co Ltd, a Hong Kong-based electronics contract manufacturing group, is repositioning itself in Malaysia to supply high-end electronic components to the gaming, medical, and hospitality industries.
Through its local subsidiary Parade Season Sdn Bhd, the group would start a new manufacturing facility in Prai Industrial Estate, scheduled to commence operations early next year, said Season Components general manager Ham Hon Pine.
“The group will invest RM8mil as start-up capital for the 80,000 sq ft plant, which will focus on the production of display and control modules used in the gaming, medical and hospitality industries,” he told StarBiz.
The plan was to extend the work currently done in Dongguan, China to this new plant, he added.
The plant would initially hire some 200 workers and eventually increase headcount to about 1,000, he said.
Presently, Season Components’ local operations in Kuala Lumpur and Johor Baru are focused on producing thin gauge thermo-foaming plastic packaging materials for the electronics industry.
The company also has operations in Toronto, Canada doing injection moulding for automotive parts, serving the North American market.
