Celcom bags two Telecom awards
KUALA LUMPUR: Celcom (M) Bhd bagged two awards at the 2009 Frost & Sullivan Malaysia Telecom Awards last night.
It took home the 2009 Data Communications Service Provider of the Year Award and the most coveted award - the 2009 Service Provider of the Year.
In what was a much-awaited event for the telecommunications industry, 18 awards were conferred at the banquet.
Over 200 guests, industry leaders and well-known personalities from the telecommunications industry attended the event, including Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Zamzamzairani Mohd Isa, Celcom CEO Datuk Seri Shazalli Ramly, MNC Wireless Bhd CEO Jamine Lee Sze Inn, Cisco Systems managing director Anne Abraham and Huawei Technologies Asia-Pacific president Victor Wang.
In congratulating the recipients, Frost & Sullivan senior vice-president for information and communications technology practice Nitin Bhat said: “The winners overcame challenges of an increasingly saturated market in Malaysia by a combination of innovation, product or service portfolio diversity, focus on the customer and demonstrated a credible and exciting roadmap.”
The recipients were picked by judges comprising well-known personalities, leaders from the local telecommunications industry, the media and analysts from Frost & Sullivan.
The contenders were evaluated based on a variety of actual market performance indicators including revenue growth, market share and growth in market share, leadership in product innovation, breadth of products and solutions, major customer acqusitions, subscriber base and growth in subscriber base, average revenue per user (ARPU) and growth in ARPU, data strategy, and next-generation service strategy.
