Celcom aiming for top spot in 2010
KUALA LUMPUR: Celcom (M) Bhd yesterday launched a new prepaid plan for its mobile phone services, aiming at increasing its current seven million subscribers by 20% to 25%.
Currently ranked second in the local mobile telecommunications market, Celcom is targeting to be the top provider by 2012, said chief executive officer Datuk Seri Shazalli Ramly. He said the company had been recording a continuous 12 quarters of growth and its UOX and SOX prepaid plans, with a total of 3.5 million subscribers, were the market leaders for the youth prepaid segment outside Kuala Lumpur.
Celcom hoped that the new XPAX prepaid plan would lead the youth market segment in Kuala Lumpur. — Bernama
