Wisdom from a commodity guru

Amidst the critical stages of commodities, Leeb guides us to benefiting from it.

Game Over, How You Can Prosper in a Shattered Economy

Author: Stephen Leeb

Publisher: Business Plus

THE word prosper is not to be linked with the present state of the global economy. Or so, most of us believe. Well, according to bestselling author and reknowned investment advisor Stephen Leeb, the two can go hand in hand.

In Game over, how you can prosper in a shattered economy, Leeb tells you how this is possible – using commodities.

He starts his first chapter writing on oil and his findings on the commodity are both interesting and scary at the same time.

In his chapter on oil, Leeb writes: “Alarmingly, the evidence suggests that no matter how you define peak oil, the world today is fast reaching – and may already have reached – it. If we allow ourselves to reach this sorry stage, we will truly be at Game Over”.

Oil is not the only critical commodity that is becoming scarcer and more expensive, Leeb writes. Minerals, water, metals, these are all on the list.

He makes it crystal clear – time is running out ... and energy alternatives like solar and wind power are not going to magically make the problems disappear.

But here comes the interesting part for the investor and especially one who wants to grow his global portfolio.

Leeb thinks gold is “your single bet as the commodity crisis unfolds”

You CAN benefit from the commodities’ journey to depletion.

In the 245-pager, Leeb provides a clear and well-thought of financial strategy for the investor amid the ongoing wreckage of markets.

More specifically, he lets one know which commodities are the ones which will steadily trend up and which are the sectors which will boom and make you rich!

Drawing upon his vast experience, Leeb also shares with readers the most effective ways to hedge inflation, among others.

A noteworthy point – Leeb thinks gold is “your single bet as the commodity crisis unfolds” owing to its unique ability to thrive under any kind of economic turbulence.

Leeb has pretty scary predictions too. He writes in his final chapters: “As stock market returns dry up over the next ten years, the major stock exchanges will become shadows of their former selves.

“The next generation of self-made millionaires and billionaires will be people who develop the skill of spotting valuable resources, often in their own backyard and acquiring control of them without the help of Wall Street professionals.”

If it’s commodities that you want to learn about, this is the book for you. If it is profits that you eye from the instability in the global commodity markets, then all the more, this book is suitable for you.

In essence, this book is suitable for both the novice and professional. It teaches you the fundamentals without being too shallow and gives away information which even “expert” investors would be grateful for.

That said, once again, it is guilty of what most business books usually are guilty of – almost nil graphic illustrations, save for charts and graphs.
