Canon Marketing sees RM700mil revenue this year
By DAVID TAN
GEORGE TOWN: Canon Marketing (M) Sdn Bhd expects its revenue in Malaysia to grow some 11% in the financial year ending Dec 31 (FY09) to about RM700mil, compared with about RM650mil in FY08.
Canon Marketing president and chief executive officer Liew Sip Chon said the digital single-lens reflex camera would be a key driver of growth, and that the northern region operations would contribute about 15% to the group’s revenue in Malaysia this year.
“This would translate to about RM150mil just from the northern region,” he said after the launch of the group’s new northern region premises by Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng earlier this week.
In the first four months of this year, Canon Marketing achieved a revenue of RM200mil, a 2% increase from the previous corresponding period.

“Every year we allocate 6% to 7% of our revenue on advertising and promotion programmes. We will be focusing on online advertising and promotions, as our research has shown that youngsters spend more time online.
“We have engaged online consultants to advise on this,” he added.
Canon Marketing is a subsidiary of Canon Inc, which also has manufacturing facilities in Shah Alam and Seberang Prai.
