Local bourse up, Lityan among gainers

KUALA LUMPUR: The local bourse was up in mid-morning trade Tuesday with Lityan among counters in focus.
In the region, markets were mixed as investors pondered over Wall Street’s mixed performance yesterday.
At 10.30am, the FBM KLCI gained a fifth of a percent to 1,244.17 while Singapore’s Straits Times Index was marginally higher.
Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index dropped more than a half-percent to 21,502.03 and Shanghai’s A share index added two-thirds of a percent to 3,097.94.
The Taipei Index was down a fifth of a percent to 7,319.41 while Seoul’s Kospi Index was marginally up.
At Bursa Malaysia, 238 counters were up, 153 were down with 193 others traded unchanged. There were 506.65 million shares done with a total value of RM282.80 million.
Lityan, which became a listed subsidiary of Lembaga Tabung Haji following a restructuring, surged 43 sen to RM3.13.
United Plantation was down 14 sen to RM13.46 and Genting dropped 6 sen to RM7.09.
EON Capital gained 12 sen to RM5.72, Hong Leong Bank added 14 sen to RM7.73 and PacificMas dropped 5 sen to RM3.80.
Technology company Notion Vtec was down 9 sen to RM2.68 and Iris gained 1 sen to 17 sen.
Among telecommunication stocks, Time lost 2.5 sen to 48 sen, Time Dotcom was unchanged at 44 sen and DiGi shed 8 sen to RM21.80.
Nymex crude oil in electronic trade added 9 cents to US$78.22 per barrel.
Spot gold gained US$6 to US$1,065.50 per ounce.
The ringgit was quoted at 3.415 to the US dollar.
