Robert Tan appointed GBH managing director
PETALING JAYA: Tan Sri Robert Tan Hua Choon, 68, is now the managing director of ceramic maker and sanitaryware supplier Goh Ban Huat Bhd (GBH), replacing Tony Goh, 62, who resigned from the board on Oct 16, an announcement to Bursa Malaysia showed.
Tan was in a public shareholders’ tussle until recently with the Gohs, the founding family of GBH, to gain control of the loss-making company.
He finally won control of GBH in late August after raising his offer for the company’s shares to RM1.50 per share from the original offer of RM1.25 per share made on June 25.
Tan, who owned 82.48% of the company at one point, has pared down his stake to 73.55% on Oct 3, thereby complying with the stock exchange’s rules to maintain at least a 25% public shareholding spread to keep GBH’s listing status.
In separate announcements, Nahar Mohd Yusof, 55, and Aminuddin Yusof Lana, 60, were appointed as independent non-executive directors in the company.
Nahar’s last position was Lembaga Tabung Haji human resources senior general manager and is currently chairman of bio-organic fertiliser trader Smart Trade Concept Sdn Bhd as well as corporate advisor for halal food exporter Meetco Sdn Bhd.
Aminuddin, a chartered accountant, was UEM Builders Bhd managing director from March 2000 to November 2003 and has helmed various companies.
They were as Renong Bhd managing director from May 1990 to February 1994, director and managing director of Faber Group Bhd from June 1990 to December 1994 as well as Metacorp Bhd managing director from January 1995 to December 1996.
