“In recent years we have seen a surge in new companies being formed in all industries. This is natural, given our rapidly improving economy and is a clear indication of the general public’s confidence in our markets”, William Ng, managing director of AIC Events said in an exclusive interview with Star Business.
“With greater interest lies the ultimate question in the mind of all aspiring entrepreneurs – where to begin? The answer to that is Entrepreneurship Expo 2007”, he added. Entrepreneurship Expo 2007 hopes to put together business opportunities and financial information for entrepreneurs and SME owners. As a one-stop event to jumpstart businesses, the Expo will also feature innovative products and services that suit small businesses.
“There’s really nothing fancy about the Expo – just straight facts and a good sampling of what you can do with a little passion and patience. Most the exhibitors are entrepreneurs as well, and are aware of the uphill tasks an aspiring entrepreneur faces. We want to make your journey to being your own boss a smoother one by giving you are a kick start in the form of information and choices”, Ng added.
Funds for Youth
The key focus this year in the 2nd Entrepreneurship Expo 2007 (the first was held last year in the same venue) is on youth entrepreneurship.
“We feel there’s room for our creative and energetic youth to go into small businesses. And we are not just talking about incubation in technology projects – which is one of the featured exhibits, but on general entrepreneurship. Be it in food business, futsal centre, cyber café or even car workshops”, Ng continued.
“We will be working with the Youth and Sports Ministry to promote the Youth Entrepreneurship Fund at Entrepreneurship Expo 2007. The Government has recently launched the fund which provides up to RM 50,000 in soft loan to promising youths, and we hope that more youths will take it up after getting the right information through the Expo,” William, who is also national advisor for AIESEC, said.
Entrepreneurship Expo 2007 will be held from 6 to 8 April 2007 at Mid Valley Exhibition Centre, Kuala Lumpur. The expo features opportunities, products and workshops for aspiring and established entrepreneurs.
